What are the prices?
Our prices vary from city to city and from season to season. You can find an overview here.
 
What services are included in the accommodation price?
Prices always include breakfast, bed linen and bus/automobile parking space in Berlin. There are no hidden costs. Group escorts additionally receive a "Welcome-Packet" in the rooms.
 
What types of board/catering are offered?

Our hostels offer breakfast, lunch, lunch packets and dinner. Breakfast is always included in the accommodation price, all other forms of board/catering can be booked as an extra service. Half-board includes a 3-course buffet for either dinner or lunch. We also offer lunch packets for self-packing.

Is there a public restaurant in each hostel?
No, but there are places to eat in the immediate vicinity.
 
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier, the better! We are sometimes booked to full capacity up to half a year in advance. Therefore, please book early so that we may hold your rooms.

How does the reservation process work?
We accompany you through the entire reservation process centrally from Berlin. You can also gladly take a look at how the reservation process works precisely.
 
How long can we wait before paying a cancellation penalty?
Reservations can be cancelled without penalty up to 2 months before the scheduled arrival, after which point the regulations stated in the general terms and conditions shall apply.
 
Where is the hostel and how do I find it?
All MEININGER City Hostels & Hotels are centrally located and easy to find. You will be in the perfect location to start exploring the city or to go out for a spontaneous evening.
 
Is there somewhere to park in the immediate vicinity?
No,there is no free parking available.

What is the earliest we can arrive and when do we have to leave our rooms on the day of departure?
You can arrive at any time! In the event that your rooms are not yet ready at the time of your arrival (rooms are guaranteed to be available as of 3 pm on the day of arrival), you may store your luggage in the luggage room. Rooms should be free by 10 am on the day of departure so that the cleaning staff can clean the rooms for the next guests. You may also store your luggage in the luggage room on the day of departure.

How does the free luggage transfer work?
Free luggage transfer is one of the especially convenient services offered by all MEININGER hostels (for economical reasons, we unfortunately cannot offer this service in London). With prior registration, we will retrieve travellers' luggage from the corresponding train station and you may either immediately come to the hostel to check in or do so at a later time. Other retrieval locations (airports, etc.) are only available upon request and in some cases may only available for a fee.
We also offer this free service for transporting luggage from the hostel to the train station on the day of departure. Since transfer capacity is limited, we can only guaranty this service to groups that have registered in advance. The central reservation office will be happy to fulfil your reservation requests.
 
Is there a luggage room available?
Yes, there are special luggage rooms available for free, as well as lockers.
 
How are the rooms set up?

 
Are there non-smoking rooms available?
Yes, all rooms are non-smoking. Designated smoking areas (e.g. bar) are available. Cigarettes are not sold at any of our hostels.
 
Do we have to bring our own bed linen and bath towels?
Linen and bath towels are included in single and double rooms. Shared rooms with more than two beds come with linen and bath towels are available with a deposit.
 
How does room cleaning work?
All rooms are cleaned before arrival.
 
When are rooms assigned?
The final room assignments are generally made 1-2 days prior to the group's arrival. If there are short-term changes to group numbers, changes can be made to shared room assignments even on the day of arrival. Reserved single and double rooms are always guaranteed!
 
Are female and male group members separated?
Yes! Males and females are assigned to separate rooms and corresponding escorts generally receive a room on the same floor, although this is not always possible!
 
Do students share rooms with students from other schools?
No, except upon teacher/escort request.
 
What type of accommodation is available for escorts and students?
Escorts receive single or double rooms upon request. Students share rooms with 4-6 beds.
 
Do escorts ever have to share double rooms?
No, escorts receive the rooms requested at reservation.
 
Are their recreational activities available?
Yes, our hostels have table football (foosball), billiards and karaoke. Further facilities for cultural activities are in the immediate vicinity. MEININGER's staff are happy to help you in designing a recreational programme.

Are there official house rules?
Each hostel has its own house rules. You can read and print them here. Each set of house rules is also integrated into the accommodation contract.
 
What about the distribution of alcohol?
We are concerned about the well being of each individual student. Teachers are asked at arrival if students may consume alcohol. Armbands of various colours are distributed at arrival to control the sale of alcoholic beverages in MEININGER bars and at the receptions. Groups may not bring in outside alcoholic beverages into hostels!
 
Do we need to be aware of any closing times?
No, we do not have a closing time and the reception is available 24 hours (with the exception of the hostel on Tempelhofer Ufer in Berlin, which is serviced by the reception at Hallesches Ufer (40m direct line, on the other side of the street) after 2:30 pm.

How far in advance should I book?
The earlier, the better! We are sometimes booked to full capacity up to half a year in advance. Therefore, you should check availability online and book early.

May we pay with credit card?
In addition to EC-cards, we also gladly accept Visa and Eurocard (MasterCard).

What room categories do you have in your hostels?
We have single rooms, double rooms, shared rooms, female dorms and mixed dorms.

Are there non-smoking rooms available?
Yes, all rooms are non-smoking. Designated smoking areas are available.

Are there handicapped accessible rooms in the hostel?
No, there are however handicapped friendly rooms (exception: Meininger Str. and Landsberger Str.)
 
How are bath towels and/or bed linen distributed?
Beds are pre-made (in both single and shared rooms), although guests staying in dorm rooms must retrieve their bed linen at the reception. Bath towels can be borrowed from the reception for a small deposit.
 
Can I cook myself and do laundry in the hostel?
Every MEININGER hostel has a free guest kitchen. Washing machines and dryers are available for a fee.
 
Is there a restaurant in the hostel?
No, although there are places to eat in the immediate vicinity.
 
Can we store our luggage before or after arrival?
Yes, there are special luggage rooms available at the hostel for free.

Is there someplace to store valuables?
Valuables can be stored at the reception in each hostel.

Do the hostels have internet connections?
Every hostel has internet terminals and wireless internet access. You can use instant messaging systems and work with Excel, Word and PowerPoint files.
 
Is there a bar and recreation rooms at the hostel?
Each hostel has a bar with happy hours, billiards, karaoke and recreational rooms.

Where is the hostel and how do I find it?
All MEININGER City Hostels & Hotels are centrally located and easy to find. You will be in the perfect location to start exploring the city or to go out for a spontaneous evening.

Which forms of public transportation are in the immediate vicinity?
There underground and bus lines provide for optimal transport connections.

Is parking available in the immediate vicinity?
Yes, in Berlin there are free parking spaces belonging to the hostel.But not in Cologne,Munich,Vienna or London.

Is there shopping in the vicinity?
Yes, there are nearby supermarkets, chemist shops (pharmacies) and clothing stores.
 
Are there bicycles available at the hostel?
Bicycles can be rented either at the hostel directly or from somewhere in the immediate vicinity. Prices vary between 6-10 euro per day.

Do we need to be aware of any closing times?
No, we do not have any closing time and the reception is available 24 hours (with the exception of the hostel on Tempelhofer Ufer in Berlin, which is serviced by the reception at Hallesches Ufer (40m direct line, on the other side of the street) after 2 pm.

What is done for the safety of the guests?
All MEININGER hostels have a safe, central location. All buildings adhere to the high safety regulations of the corresponding agencies for fire, workplace safety and hygiene.
All hostels (exception: Meininger Str in Berlin) have a keycard system.

Is there a membership requirement to be able to stay with you?
No, everyone is welcome to stay with us, regardless of any memberships, age, ethnicity, etc.
